From The Pastor
In the last
year you may have seen a commercial sponsored by the General
Conference of the United Methodist Church under the words
"Rethinking Church". I had mentioned earlier this year our
Bishop calling the local church to re-think how we can be "The
Church" wherever we are. The idea is The idea is to get each of
us to think about church as an active verb instead of a noun.
I place this thought before you. How can we make our
"Church" into an action that moves from being a building and
turns us into an active presence in within the community.
I know that there have been members who have gone from door to
door inviting neighbors to be a part of the activities we have
had. We have been frustrated when thee has been little to
no response. That does not mean we should stop trying.
The church is here to reach out regardless of our personal
frustrations. As members of Christ's Holy bride we are the
hands that do God's work in the world. The concept of
"doing" is not new. Our lord was "doing" as he went about
"doing" his Father's business. With each generation we
must look anew at what it means to be the church. With
each re-examination we then need to make it relevant to our time
in history.
What does the
"Church" mean to you and how can you be the kind of disciple who
will serve our Lord? Each of us needs to have a clear
understanding of how we are called. We learn o our
personal call within the fellowship of the "Church".
Within the Fellowship of Christ, the church is God's Sacrament
which will work upon our hearts along with the study of
scripture, prayer, and most important fellowship. Paul
relates that each of us is a part of the body of Christ.
We become the body of the church. Another way of saying it
is, that the Church is the body of Christ right here. As
we work to implement our personal call we are the "church" in
action. In the "old days" this was called the church
militant. Our founder John Wesley took to heart that the
church could not remain within the walls of a building. He
would gather the people inside buildings where they studied,
prayed, and were taught. He then took them out into the
world just as he himself went out into the world. He
preached to coal miners in the mines. He read scripture in
the foundry to the workers by the glare of the furnaces that
smelted the iron for cannons. He addressed the cold,
hungry masses of England where they lived to give them the Good
News of the risen Lord Jesus the Christ that they may know they
were loved by God their Holy Father. That Jesus died to
set them free from sin and death. Can we at this time do
any less? Are we so modern that we can not see that we are
God's hands, or are so blind that we can not see that to be
faithful to His word we must move from where we are comfortable
in order to do His work.

Check out Our Website!
Similar to the newsletter, our
church website needs to have updated information, not only to
show what we are doing as a church, but also to share with
others (outside our community) the joy and excitement we have in
our church’s ministries. The website is not only an outreach
tool, but an online resource that can be utilized for keeping
track of events and meetings. As periodic additions are made to
the website, many other pages of the website may be neglected.
To prevent this, suggestions are needed for improving the
content as well as the accessibility of information (like:
schedules, events, etc.) on the website. I invite you to view
and evaluate our website:

Please let me know what I can
do to make our webpage even better!
Thank You,
